Finally on the lake for the first time this season. Overcast all day. Maybe 54 degrees at best.
When we launched it was mirror calm, but within minutes the normal Cascade Lake Breeze was blowing. Water temperature was 58.0 - 58.3. Still pretty cool for much to be moving.
We knew the LBM wouldn't be moving yet, so primarily we targeted trout. Saw a school of small pumkinseed pan fish sunning themselves on the surface and boated one.
K. had a bite but none in the boat. I had a 20" cutthroat on. Hit like a ton and I hollared, "Big fish" and at that moment it came soaring out of the water and threw the hook. Fun even so. Later I had another hit but never saw the fish. My two fish hit on two different Little Cleo spoons.
P. boated a short but thick trout early on with a little spinner. And later boated the pumpkinseed and another trout on a wedding ring.
Had a good hot dog lunch and explored the shoreline into nooks and crannies which were flooded by the high water. Won't look the same in just a few months.
