Day 2 of a 3 day trip. We put out some kokanee gear first thing in the morning, but didn't really give it much of a try (only 2 hours). Word was that the kokanee weren't biting. We caught two, one real nice one about 17 inches or so. We marked a ton of fish, but for some reason we couldn't get them to bite. So we gave up and went after the bass again. I started getting hits and landed two small smallies along the rocks, but my partner wasn't finding anything so we decided to head for the flooded brush and trees again. That was a good idea, since we did real well on smallies and largies. They wanted mostly Senkos, some took tubes. We ended up with 20 or 25 bass total. Water temps were low 60's. Air temps mid to high 70's, no wind to speak of. And no mosquitoes, thank goodness, since they can be bad at Palmer. I didn't have my camera in the boat today; I left it in the cabin. Speaking of, the folks at Chopaka Lodge once again provided a great place to stay.

Thanks Lundegard for the reports from up North. Sounds like a nice three day trip, and fish were caught. It is amazing how fast the lake filled up, and we'll have to go back to give the "bushes" a shakin. What kind of water clarity is there with the inlets flooding?

Hey blufin, just spent the last 5 days there and the water came up over a foot at least and went over the banks in the creek on the north end. Fished in the rain the last 2 days. Clarity wasn't that bad. It didn't really effect the bite, but the bite was a little strange. Again senkos seem to be the top producer for the largies. The largie bite kept getting better. Bigger fish. One 51/2 had a bloody tail. Smallie bite was a little tougher. Jerkbaits and plastics, but nothing over 31/2. Lundegard, We must have been next to you. Hats off to Dick and Camille. We stay there spring and fall and never regret it. I'll bet Whitestone is turning on also.

Will be there for a Memorial Day weekend fishing trip at the family house on the lake, but plan to stop by Cabela's in Lacey before heading over the hills. Any suggestions on which color Senkos to purchase? Gonna try the Fish-N-Fool's as well, and of course some that never fail: RattleTraps n poppers. Looks like chance of showers each day this weekend, but a bad day fishing in the rain beats even the best day being at work.

I'm jealous LOL. Me and My fishing bud need to look into the chopaka lodge. It would be outstanding to spend a "couple days up there. Thanks for the info guys.

Black and blue. Don't forget your frogs and spinnerbaits also. Crankbaits may be a little tough with all the mat and grass. it should be lights out this weekend. Loui, I hear ya, you really need a couple days, there's so much fishing between the bass and a few nice kokes thrown in. Take care

Was not lights out, seems the willows that were flooded had been hit pretty hard over the weekend, but we did manage to land a couple of pigs- one SM and one LM, each 6lbs or more, easily. Many 1-2lb SM though, and a lot of perch. Did catch a few decent sized Rainbows with some jerk baits as well. Can't say I have ever caught that many in this lake before, so that was a nice bonus. Did not hit the Kokes trolling as much as we wanted, as we heard the bite was slow, so focused mainly on the bass. Will be back in July when the water warms up- and will hit the regular summer spots for bass again. Can't wait to get back up there.
