The Inland Empire Bass Club Long Lake tournament is in the books. Over 488lbs of bass were caught over the weekend by 31 anglers with 100% live fish released after weigh-in. Most fish caught on lipless cranks with water temps in the 49-52F range.
Big fish for the tournament went 8.48lbs and can be seen in the first picture. The WDFW regulations allow only one largemouth over 17" to be retained so the rest of the 5 fish limit were comprised of smallmouth. The fish on this body of water are on fire right now and even with the recent fluctations in water level, this fishery produced some great memories for all. My 4.25 smallie is shown in the second pic but biggest smallie caught for the weekend came from the same location and weighed in at 6.17lbs.

For those interested, we have a spaghetti feed/club meeting this coming Tuesday, May 24th, at Spokane Valley Marine at 6pm. You don't have to be a member to attend and the monies from the spaghetti feed are going to help one of our fellow members who has had some recent medical issues. Hope to see you there! -Todd

Very nice. I knew the Fish would be on fire, if we could launch.

Where did people launch out of? Last I heard, the water was low. Is it up again?

Very nice write up Ryan, we had a blast. Wish we could keep more LMB but the smallies were a lot of fun to catch.

Anglinarcher, we launched out of the DNR on the Northwest side of the lake.

Any idea why other Washington tournaments including one's I have fished on Long Lake let you keep 5 largies?

Nik,
As per the WDFW rules on their website
"Largemouth Bass Restriction
For fishing contests taking place on Banks Lake (Grant Co.), Lake Wallula (Benton Co.), and Long Lake (Spokane Co.) during the months of May and June, only one largemouth bass 17” or greater in length may be retained per angler. "

All other bodies of water and times fall under the general contest regulations.

Anglinarcher,
Yes, the water was down several feet. You can find real-time data at Avista's website: http://www.avistautilities.com/_layouts/avista/search.aspx?k=long%20lake%20elevation
Just search or click Long Lake elevation.

Riprap,
My friend got me that jersey for christmas and let me stay at his house the evening of the tournament, closest thing to a sponsorship I have :) And I buy a ton of gear from them, always quick shipping and good prices.
Spoke to the DNR guys yesterday and the launch will be open Friday through Sunday from 6am to 8pm here on out until they can find an attendant, day use only so no camping.

Thanks guys, both for the Avista site and the info on the DNR launch. It really sucked last year when it did not open.
