Got a last minute call from Lord of the Fly to grab the canoe and cruise around Greenlake, with rainstorms predicted for the next couple days, how could one say no? The water was glassy and we could see fish swirls and splashes all over the lake.

on a wedding ring spinner, i got first one in just a few minutes, just sub surface. LOTF was trolling a fly and got the next two. Even the farmtrout were being feisty despite average size 10-12. For all the surface activity we were seeing, the action wasn't quite as hot as the last time we fished Haller, which was absolutley buzzing with biting trout.

With the biting slowing down, i reeled in my line to switch to bass when i got a strike, after a couple seconds, i realized that this one was heavier, way heavier and called for the net. Splashing at the boat confirm a biggie, in fact it jumped out of the net on the first try but we got it still enough for a couple of pics. Then back in the water. Rejuvenated and it swam away on it's own.

I'm nearly out of my stock of berkley power worms, which were kinda expensive, 5 bucks for 10 small earthworms. And i'm not sure if it makes a difference, but i put bubblegum pink octopus hooks on my wedding ring spinners because i thought it blended in with the worm tips better. By happy chance, i hook a pack of these hooks floating in the water couple weeks ago, and have put them back to good use.

Special props to LOTF for the fly rod catches, quite the purist. And of course, thanks for the use of the boat by which all this was made possible.
