Hey all,
They stocked it!!! 1,500 little rainbow trout are swimming around and raising hell all over the lake. They average between 8 and 10 inches, but they fight like they weigh a pound or more. The excitement of their arrival stirred up the other residents of the lake too. The 1/2 Rock Bass all of a sudden became too much for the "Wunder Bat Jr." (my micro-lite), so I had to switch to my trout rod to tame them.
I fished until two in the morning, taking the lil' stockers on everything from spinners and spoons to Carolina rigged "Bass" plastics. Tomorrow I'll be trolling Husky Jerks and Rapalas to see if I can hook into the holdover of holdovers.
Back in the 1950's-60's this lake was a destination fishery and they stocked it with large Rainbows and Browns for the opening day derbies.
Few, if any of these fish still exist, but it has been brought to my attention (via a late night hook up) that one or two may still exist to be caught by a rabidly dedicated angler.
