Hey all,
Fished the "puddle" today for about four hours. Things were a little slow, though I managed to hook and land 2 Rainbows, one was about 13" and the other about 11". They both took a small black rubber grub (available at Sportco) with a dangling garden worm. I located both of them by casting and jigging a 3" brown Bungee Leech on a Carolina rig. I guess my size 2 hook was a lil' much to get in their mouths this time around.
The fish seemed to be in 30' of water, closest to the shore line. And either my thermometer is broken or this water maintains a constant at, between 38 and 40 degrees
Trolling a worm troll, spinners, spoons, and Rapalas at varying depths and speeds did absolutely nothing.
After having examined the stomach contents of the one fish I kept, (for lunch) I found a few snails, wads of Daphnia, and a few bones from a small fish. Pretty slim pickens' compared to the gooey globs of chironomids I usually find.
The Perch and Rock Bass continue to be elusive, in spite of my newly found topo map of the lake and several hours of research. I guess I'll have to beg, borrow, or steal a fish finder and smack 'em about the heads with fat 'crawler.
