I just got back from my Honeymoon in Kauai and was ready to go fishing after hooking into some Peacock Bass and tilapia last week. F.Y.I. I read a lot and was told by locals ''you'll never catch Peacock bass at night''. I read that they sleep in the shallows at night so I tossed out a black jerkbait and BAM!!! They do not quit fighting! On to today's adventures. I hit the channel in Union for 20 minutes. Not much activity, only got a 1.5 ibs smallie. I headed for my honey holes on LK Washington. I caught a few dinks in the channel then looked for new places. I found this area with a bunch of docks than had a lot of rock structure so I explored it with my crankbait. I caught 6 good sized fish in 15 minutes! The bigest was 3.2 ibs for a bit. I was thinking, there has to be some big ones around... a few minutes later, I felt the dead weight of a big momma. My scale was going crazy reading inbetween 5.2 and 6.5. The scale bottomed out at 5.2 ibs. I would NOT recommend the cheap Cabela's scale to anyone. The fish was the longest smallie I've ever caught. Has the spawn already happened???? All the fish were really skinny.
