Fished from 4-8 pm in the south end of the lake. Hardly any wind. Still quite a lot of floating algae. Water clarity was moderately clear. Water temp ranged from 52-56 mainly, with one spot that was as high as 60. Lots of surface activity, some of it was carp, with many cruising close to the surface. Lake level is down a bit compared with a few weeks ago.

Started at one of the usual spots and got three browns right off the bat, all on a yellow lipless crankbait close to shore or in about 20 feet of water. One of the browns was pretty decent, chunky, maybe about 19-20" released. Then nothing for quite awhile.

Tried another spot, picked up one more brown, then just cruised down the shoreline towards the launch for about a mile or so, bites were steady. With another flurry of three browns in quick succession by a cliff on a fire tiger husky jerk. Only one rainbow caught, which was football shaped and fought like a champ. Bite seemed to have stopped during the last hour or so. Overall a better than average trip. Ran into two guys who said that they had caught a 6 and 3 lb brown (maybe trolling?) yesterday when it was windy and probably raining. They hadn't picked up anything fishing all day today. Said that yesterday folks shore fishing at the launch had done pretty well.

are the carp spawing in the bays yet?

not sure if the carp are spawning, how can you tell?

Was out there again today from 2-7pm. I figured it would be crowded and thought I would try to go up river to Bonnie Lake. I had always thought it was supposed to be navigable between rock and bonnie when there is enough water, but it did not look like it from what I saw. Had a nice brown follow near the inlet and a hookup, then nothing for a couple of hours. Hooked several good sized browns, water was clear enough to see them take the crankbait quite a few times, but they didn't stay on for more than a couple of seconds. Overall fish seemed much more uncooperative today. Eventually managed to C&R two nice browns in the 18-20" range. From the fish I saw and the two I landed, it seemed like the size was there, but not the numbers. Water temps on the surface were 62+ everywhere, clarity was significantly better than Friday. Seems like there hasn't been much wind at least the last few days, so wonder if the wind has that big an effect on water temp in rock or if there is some stratification going on.

well I was just wondering if they were roaming the shallow water in big numbers so that a guy could go bow fish them. last year I saw a bunch swimmin just past the bridge and I saw a guy bowfishing to the right of the launch in that bay about 200 yards away.. Just wondering if you saw a bunch swimming around because its about an hour drive to go check it out lol...thanks for th help

Friday they were definitely all over the place, but Sunday, I didn't notice, plus there was a ton of boat traffic, may have scared them off. Friday they could have easily been shot from the boat, but they weren't very large, probably about 18 inches or so. Every time I go down to the Snake there have been many carp, and big ones that don't spook until you are right up on top of them, but the vis on the snake hasn't been great.
