Went to Riffe Lake Saturday and Sunday with the father in law had a phenominal time. Was the first time Kokanee fishuing for me,we were trolling wedding bands tiped with whole nightcrawlers behind cowbells.Caught 9 and lost probably 10 or so on saturday caught 15 on sunday with 6 or so LDR.So now im a kokanee addict and getting my aluminum boat ready so I can go do it on lakes stevens since that is alot closer to me than riffe.

Oh and all fish were averaging around the 14-16 inch range with a few pushing 24 inches.

Tight Lines everyone Mike

Kokanee fishing is even cooler! They fight really well, a lot of them will manage to throw the hook while going airborne, and they are prob. the tastiest of the freshwater salmonoids. It's a diff. fishery as far as bait, the silvers will hit shrimp under a bobber or while trolling while the kokes are more jigging at depth or trolling,You can catch them (kokes) occasionally while still fishing, but not consistently. They both have soft mouths, a light drag and consistent reeling is required to keep from losing fish.My wife has been hooking some nice ones at American Lake on the surface with spoons while I've been screwing with the downrigger! Nice report, Bob R
