It was a "crappie" day of fishing today. :) Forgot the camera again, but caught 3 crappie on the fly rod. Lost 2 flies in the trees after they wrapped around some semi-submerged structure. Lots of risers all over the lake. Tried a dry fly for a few casts but no takers. There are fish that literally hug the shoreline. As I was walking up to the shoreline, I spooked a fish that was right up against the shore in a small pocket of grass. Wish I could've gotten out further towards the middle where the risers were. Getting a small boat or even a float tube in there can be tricky though. The shoreline is very unstable. As usual, the water color is like tea with rusty nails dissolved in it.

So were you not in your kayak? You were on the shoreline, hence the flies in the trees, lol? (-:

Nah, left the kayak at home. It's pretty tricky getting into this lake and an unpleasant surprise awaits you if you fall or even step in. They were two flies I didn't really care for either.
