On Saturday evening, the wife and I took the new "Fish Hunter" Sevylor raft we bought for a trip around the lake. Trolled up and down the East side from the grandstand up to about 150m from the NE docks (avoiding the swimmers). Unfortunately, didn't have any luck. We were dragging a diving crawdad rapala and roostertail to see what kind of action we could get either on top or below. We passed the grandstand on our way back and turned West along the South end of the lake. About halfway across took a nice hit on the rapala and pulled in an 18" trout. He must have been an atkins trout though because he was about as lean as a trout comes. Trolled down and turned to head back for the dock when my wife hooked another rainbow. This one had to have been at least 20" or larger from the fight and watching it jump. Unfortunately, my dearest love is an apprenticing angler and let's just say she's still working on fundamentals. The fish was a "long distance C&R" and I'll come back to put him away properly another day. All in all a fun little outing that gives me good hope for fishing on the lake in the future. Nice outing and report CP! - Just FYI - there are no motors allowed on Greenlake (except for the support boats for the rowers). Even electrics are not allowed. Just don't want you to end up with a ticket.

Good to know! I thought I read somewhere that as long as it wasn't a combustion engine, it was alright. I'll have to hit the books again. Guess it's just oars for me!

there are some very large trout in G-lake, large triploids, also large browns. The biggest trout I've seen this year, while fishing a ton of lakes Western and Eastern Wa. was a dead trout at greenlake. The trout fishing usually gets poor though when we get to the warmer time of the summer. Welcome to the site, keep the reports coming.

You have to watch out because on some lakes (I think Greenlake is one of em) there are WDFW rules, and then there are City rules - most of the time they are the same, but sometimes not. Like Quad said - there are some lunkers in there - I caught my PB Brown out of Greenlake. IMHO the best time to fish it is early spring (March/early April), before they plant it. My best luck as been just a large whole nightcrawler threaded onto a barbless hook so it spins a little when trolled - cast it out, let it hit bottom, and just start rowing slow.

There are some big fish in Green Lake, I'm certain of that. I've been continuously trying to catch catfish there, but never seem to have any luck. Also, came across what had to have easily been a 40"+ carp. Any tips on hooking one of those lunkers? I tried corn on the bottom, corn on the top, all to no avail. I'm going to bring some doughbaits next time and see if I have any success. I'm also hoping to hook into an elusive Tiger Muskie. I don't believe they planted any this year or last, but I imagine they're still in there.

For the carp - go in the evening, launch your inflateable, toss your line out with corn or brad or something with no weight. Kick back and take a nap... :)

How's the bass fishing in Green Lake ? I think they are in there.

I haven't caught any bass over 7" in there, and what I thought were SMB are actually rock bass. I've had much better luck as far as size goes, fishing out of Lake Washington.
