My daughter and I got to fish Rufus again with our good friend BluFin Loui and it was a great time.

Weather was nice until the wind picked up at he end of the day. We fished mostly jigs but also tried a few spoon type lures and my daughter tried her secret powerbait reciepe which did not even get a nibble(told her it was a shore weapon LOL).

We started on the lower end of th lake with only one fish to the boat so moved up to the lower pens. I got the biggest of the day to start the fish biting at the top end of the pens. Once the bite slacked off we fished along side of them.

We had a hard time getting past the smaller ones, but were able to land our limits. Smallest was about a pound and a half and largest was just shy of six pounds. We saw and probably lost some bigger fish, but as I said you had to get through the little ones.

I will say those little fish were scrappers and when they grow up they will be hard fighting quality fish. But using artificials you can play all day with them.

I got to break in my baitcaster which has never caught a fish so that was fun and I found out ole Blufin can catch anything. Which includes a hard fighting glove that he landed without a net. I also had little surprise. My daughter set her rod on the back of the boat so she could get a drink and some power food(oreos) and I was siting on the butt of it to keep it from bouncing into the water, The B2 jig she was using was no more than 5 feet behind just siting there in th water when I caught motion out of the corner of my eye. I turned in time to see a nice fat fourish pound fish bite down on the jig. In one motion I set my rod down to let my kid grab it while I grabbed hers to keep it from becoming a water bound trophy for the fish to keep. At least I don't have to replace her favorite rod and reel. We landed it after a nice little batle.

Again a huge thanks to Lewis for a wonderful time and awesome adventure and kind of wet ride to the dock. We also had a duck I swear was racing us and if it was it kicked our butts that was a fast duck.

Hey Robert, really glad you kept your daughters rod in the boat! Sounds like a good day with the fishies. Any day on the water with Lewis is a good day.
