Went back to view the picture and having trouble imagining the dimensions of that Gargantuan. Did you come close to having all the backing stripped off the reel at any point during the fight?

7/16/2011 11:45:00 AMThanks for the replies, guys. I found him lurking in about 18ft of water very close to the northeast shoreline. And yes, the tip of that 4wt was below the butt with the handle pointed straight up! Even guys like me get lucky sometimes, and I think I just used up a whole bunch of it!
