Went to a private lake off Hwy. 7 except guy whom owns the lake will let you in to fish it, knew from talking to him that there were Bass and Crappie, he said leave the Crappie as there are not that many, so walked in started fishing with a Weedless Frog, started nailing them from the jump start, to sum up the day on Bass we killed em, almost every cast was a hit, dragging it through the lillies, on top, as soon as it hits the water stuff like that raining the whole time just dumping the rest of the time. We had two short breaks all day and barely stayed dry, emirson foot hands friend had the shakes, but we caught fish all day long, The Bass hit the frog steady once on the edge of some lillies a nice sized Crappie grabbed it so started fishing it slower and it was on the Crappie were a bitting. Took out my fly rod and with a Pink Lady and my buddy with a Bobber and Wolly Bugger about 2 or 3 ft down we started bringing in these Big ins for these neck of the woods, in Texas though these would still be considered small but these were some of the biggest I seen in a while from this side of the Cascades around Pierce County for that matter of fact. So here are two of the biggest the one with his hand behind it he let go, the others we kept for dinner, seemed like the lake was chalked full so a few didn't matter since we caught so many we knew the population was not going to be hurt by these we took out, heck lost 15 or so any hoot that we never saw, Bass caught about 50 ,15 being two pds. 15 or so 1 pds. the rest dinks, buddy did hook into one that looked four pds. but spit the hook like pa-two-ee right back at you dude, and the rest of them that did spit the hook it was good fishing but the Crappie were easy just flip that fly out there wait a couple of seconds to sink, twitch, twitch and wham all afternoon, we did not even go back to Bass fishing although I did catch several on a fly that we some of the biggest of the day. So other than the rain soak which was sort of a bummer it was still ok cause we were knocking out the lights. Cheap thrills, and tight lines Babes and Dudes Lake is near Rapjohn did not put report under Secret Lakes like I should have, duh!
