I got everything ready last night to go to American. And I got up to go and went. But I didn’t want to. I didn’t feel good again. I have a puncture wound in my finger that got infected and the antibiotics are rough. I now call them pill of pain. The connector fell off the wire for hooking up the fish finder. So I had to fix that. It was cold and foggy. Did I say I didn’t feel good. But that does pass after a bit. It was slow going for me. Outboard got a new nut but had some rough running. Sort of like me. We, old girls, only got 3 bites in 3 hours with 2 fish in the box. The sun came out at 10:30am. I tried all types of colors, lures, scents, and the usual corn and maggots. New Wannafish A Lure caught the fish with a Dick Nite Pink Splatter dodger. I don't remember what depth we were at. It was nice meeting Renee, Brett, and Jared fellow kokanee fishing people. Duane I even put on a Dick Nite Spoon.

After the round of meds you should be in top form Toni. Hope it is soon. Always like seeing pics of the the nice fat Kokes. You have accounted for quite a number of them, and have a working system. Maybe someday we'll make it over to your side of the hill and you can show us how it's done. Otherwise I enjoy living the dream from your reports. LOL
Keep it up

I'm new to kokanee fishing. What lures work best, colors, bait? How long of leader between dodger and lure? Any tips, would be appreciated.

The leader should be about 2 1/2 times the length of the dodger. Wrap some line around the dodger 2 and a half times then cut it. hold it on the water while trolling, the lure should have a nice back and forth action behind it. If the leader is too long the lure wont have much action from the dodger. My favorite lures are Koke-A-Nut lures, they sell them at most places, even at Fred Meyers. I will usually put a small piece of worm or corn on the top hook of these. And if youre used to trout fishing, dont set the hook like you normally would. Kokanee have soft lips and the hook can easily be ripped right out of their lip. I have caught plenty of fish without even setting the hook, just let them take it, then give it a soft jerk and dont stop reeling, and have somebody ready to net it.
