The SO and I got on the water early. Looks like there's a good chance of rain, but forecast model shows it should be dry for several hours.....
Water temp is 70 degrees and it's pretty windy on the water. I start the morning with a crank. Partner with plastics.
Hour into fishing and partner finally gets a bite. Didnt get a good hookset, so fish popped off after a quick run. Wasnt very big whatever it was.
A few minutes later, here comes the rain. :(
Asked the SO if she wanted to go back home, but she said no, she's determined to catch a big fish!
I switch to plastics also and pitched along a weedline. About 10 mins into this, we hear thunder. Still light rain, but after a few more thunder rumbles, we call last cast.
*Bump bump* Set the hook and fish on! Feels like a good one. Doesnt feel like those 4lbers I've been catching, but definately not a small fish. Fish starts swimming to my left and I'm reeling in. Then pop goes the hook. Dont know what happened. Guess I didnt hook the fish properly. :(
That got us pumped, so we kept fishing for 10 more minutes until it sounded like the thunder was getting closer.
So fished for about 1.5hrs today, with 0 fish in the boat. We had our oppurtunities. Maybe next time.
