Was able to get in a double header today as the errand that cut short my morning chinook pursuit, didn’t take as long as expected. Tried a new area today and holy smokes, did it ever hold fish! Tried an assortment of lures, but they really wanted a needlefish sized hoochie. Being lazy I used one that I had rigged for Puget Sound pinks, complete with barbless hooks. The hooks were a bit too small to be effective without barbs and the head shaking along with the jumping made boating a fish difficult. I went 2 for 5 before changing out my hoochie in favor of one with barbed hooks. This slowed down the action but paid off in the end with a toad of a fish! A quick net weight check using a digital scale put this fish in at a tad over 5.5lbs. The fish took a few moments to recuperate and I thought the fight and warm surface temps may have done it in, but the fish took off like a shot, soaking me in the process. No kokes this time out, which was rather odd, perhaps they were the ones that got away? All my strikes came between 45’ and 60’ on the rigger. Though I marked fish higher and lower in the water column, they weren’t in the mood today. I have to add that the number of quality fish in the Lake seems to have dwindled and most of the fish I have caught lately are in the 14” to 16” range. Because of this trend I have been releasing almost all of the cutts that I have caught in the past two years. I’m hoping that the missing fish are just running around out in the Sound and will show up in the not to distant future.

I also had a chance to get out on Friday. Haven't fished the lake much this year as, I underwent a complete restoration of my olde 51yo boat this spring. Anyway ... Friday Am produced well for me on the 520 bridge, and further north. Nothing to brag about, but some decent action. Mostly Kokes. I also ended up fishing much deeper then normal (40'-60'). Which is why I like the March - June "season" .... They are closer to the surface. I did hit a fresh "Searun" who still had lice .... So they are on the move already!! A bit early IMO ... yet normally I'm out Salmon fishing this time of year, so who knows ... Lots of "bloom" in the lake. It's almost murky.
5 fish total, all released. Herring and spoons did the trick for me.

Didn't see too many folks fishing, and got off the lake by 12:00pm.

That's a good'n G...nicely done. It shows getting out and trying different spots can really pay off!

Motoboat - They very well could be, though that high up in the water column at 4 in the afternoon would be highly unusual for sockey in Lake Washington. The arches down around 100' is more like what I am used to seeing at this time of the day.

I was at the Locks last weekend, and there were more Sockeye then I expected. AND, some really NICE Kings!! With the Cutts mixed in.
