Took a friend out to the Lake today to see if we could locate some more larger cutts. The morning weather was a bit more damp than the forecast had called for and the winds were running out of the SW. Our first location yielded one fish in the 18” range down around 65’ which ended up being a common theme for the day. We worked the area over a bit more with nothing to show and moved on to the 520 bridge. We started on the north side, and naturally the wind changed direction and started coming out of the NW and had picked up speed. We managed to pick up another cutt and also released a nice sockeye after a prolonged fight. The wind waves were getting close to whitecap size so we moved to the south side and managed to pick up our largest cutt of the day, coming in at 21”. Shortly after this fish the skies started to clear and the bite was off! Nothing for 2 hours so we headed over to Groat Point for a half hour and picked up one small koke before heading in for the day. All the fish were caught on mini hoochie setups and down between 55’ and 65’. I did have a couple of takedowns on a Brad’s mini cutplug, but they didn’t hang on as they normally do. We did mark bait and fish up higher in the water column but could not induce a strike from any of them.
