Went to Stevens w/ a couple of friends.
We got within 2 blocks of the city launch when we found the road was closed. Turns out Lk Stevens was having thier Aqua Velva festival and the launch was closed, along with several blocks around it.
So we went to the county launch on the other side.
Finally we are in the water having wasted 20mins (which I HATE, especially after waking up early to be on the water at sunrise)
We started to troll. I let out the first line. RIght after I attached it to the DR we got our first hit before I even lowered it. A small 6" koke, which we let go.
We got 3 lines in the water and down on the rigger, and one of my buddies was letting out the 4th line which we were going to troll w/ some weight on. Well he let the line out too fast and the gear hit bottom and snagged up. I started bringing in the other lines so we could turn and get a different angle on the snag & hopefully get our gear back. THe guy driving the boat didn't wait, so we got 2 lines tangled.
Eventually we sorted out the tangle, and lost the snagged gear. :(
Back to fishing, probably wasted a good 45 mins of fishing between the launch, snag and tangle.
Anyway we landed 10 out of 14 hookups. Should have had 11, but weren't ready with the net.
We had to stop at 10:30. At 10:25 we had a fish on, whcih we landed. We thought that was a nice way to end the day, so we started pulling everything in. I went to pop the last rod off the DR and right as I reached for the rod had a take down - fish on! - and then fish in the boat.
Also landed a 10" cuttbow, in addition to the kokes. All the kokes (except the first one) were around 14" and fat.
This fishery has been alot fun figuring out..
