Took my 6 and 2 yr old girls down to Nine mile Dam on Long Lk. The 2 yr. old could only handle being down there for an hour, but that's all the time the 6 yr. old needed to hoarse this 3lb. Long lake sucker up on to shore. She was building a sand castle next to her barbie pole with a mallow and a worm on twenty lb cable on bottom. She heard a tap tapp from barbie pole and grabbed the pole, set hook, and reeled in. She yells, "Dad, I got a fish." pretty excited.

I was throwing a malibu jig, drifting it in th current. No takes, the 2 year old had had enough after an hr, and we packed up.

The six yr old is now "hooked".

Hey, if you go up around the corner to the Spokane House State Park there's some big smallmouth in the current there. A few years back I fished the banks tossing a Pumkin seed zoom trick worm with no weight up stream and let it drift down, watched my line either stop or go upsteam and wham, fish on! Caught quite a few in the 2-3.5 lb range. You can see some of my old posts in August 2008 under another name. Have fun with the kids!
