8/8/2011 6:04:00 PMHi kwcc, That lake is stacked with crappie and you are right they go crazy right at sun down. Try using a smaller hook and you won't miss as many fish. A guy I met out there a few summers ago used to meet me out there for fishing challenges and there was nights that we both caught as many as 40 fish each. If you don't mind the bats the fish bite well into the midnight to 1 am hours. My method was to just cast out my jig and slowly retrieve it without a bobber and I did really good that way. The fish are usually only 10 feet out and sometimes right at the bank. I also caught a few nice trout on the same little jigs that the crappie like.

8/9/2011 10:01:00 AMThanks for the tip, and yeah, the fish are really close to shore. When we went sunday, I pulled out a 12" crappie just a few inches off the shore, and the bigger one in the picture on this report was only a couple feet off shore near a stump sticking out of the water.
