another post for u fellow crappie fishermen. my old post name was ChiTownFisher2169, but for some reason i cant log in so just made a new name. anyway, got back out to beaver this past weekend. the weeds r growing really strong so decided to throw the idea of bass fishing out and focused in on the crappies again. i was marking LOTS of fish in the 6' range but between getting weeds all over my presentation and them pretty much bringing my trolling motor to a complete hault i decided to fish out a lil further in the 7' range. weeds were more sparse but each clump of weeds had at least 4 -6 fish on it. tried just anchoring up and casting but i barely got bit. so decided to troll, BINGO! long as i stayed just on the deeper side of the weeds with my jig about 20yds behind the boat and a lil jig action every now and then id get a good bite. made about 6 laps stopping every now and then to jus drift and save some battery. caught 50-55 crappies,12-15 perch and 5 bass in the 1-1.5lb range.

most of the crappies ranged from 6"-8" with some 9"-10" and two 11"s. def kept those . great eating! would you kno of any other lakes with a god sized crappie population thats closer to whidbey? i like goin to beaver but my wallet dosent. my 81' gmc K2500 doesnt kno what efiency is when it comes to gas >:-| lol

I went last year to Beaver and caught 5 crappies on top water rapala in yellow/white combo #5 all in 9"/10" range. I have heard of guys catching crappie at Campbell lake on Whidbey island. I never had any luck there too slimy. I used to fish Heart Lake by Anacortes for bass in August thru October. Never ran into any crappie there but some bass 7"-17.5" but more in smaller size in fall. Sounds like you had a busy day. Lots of fish.

ive heard of bass being in heart lake but never hooked into any myself. jus rainbows and too many dink pearch. i did fish erie a couple times last year and did pretty well on bass. mostly 8"-10"ers but i did get one nice lmb bout 3.5 almost 4lbs! biggest ive gotten in this state. was super fun on my trout rod with 6lb test. if im still here in oct ill def b trying for them on both lakes
