Fished the lake on openning day with four kids under the age of five.
They caught 11 trout about 10 to 11 inches long. A slip sinker rig with
a # 10 hook baited with chartruesse, orange, or yellow power bait seemed
to do the trick. Some were as successfull and others were not. It was
very crowded and the fish were almost as thick as the fishermen. The
lake itself is a part of Bellingham's park system. There is ample area
to picknic or play catch. The fishing should continue through the
month of May. Then it switches into an early morning, late evening
trout lake for fly fishermen. Pretty lake! We saw loons, ducks and
Ospreys while we were fishing with the kids. Worth a try if you are
just out to have some fun with the kids. No power motors on the lake
keep things quiet and there is even a swimming area to explore in the
summer.
