Headed out early morning to Beaver to catch my first bass. I had tried it out a couple of times before but it was a sunny day and had no luch. So decided to have an early start this time. The raft was in the water at around 630 am and i started casting on the left side of the boat launch by the weeds. I was using a top water bait as shown in one of the pic. WIthin the first 30 mins, I has a hit and was able to hook this SMB. This is my first bass ever! I was exited and scared to hold the fish. He did not give a good fight, but still its my first one. I took a couple of pics and then let him go back to grow bigger. He must have been about 12".
Then i changed the lure to a frog one and cas t a few times but no hits. There was the Beaver Lake Triathon, so i guess all that noise and people scared the fish away. I decided to move north( based on some earlier reports of good Bass fishing there) and tired a buzz bait, worm.But no hits. IT was very sunny at the north end, not sure if that makes a difference. But then i stopped around 900 and decided to head back. I had my first SMB and look forward to some mroe bass fishing.
