Had a great day fishing the far side of the lake. Trolled from my inflatable boat with decent luck (2 good sized rainbows hooked but not landed) then switched to a dry fly when I noticed a significant hatch going on in the overhanging bushes. Fish were hitting the surface hard. Very cool to see them rise after the bugs. I used a similar looking copper dry fly and landed four rainbows in 30 minutes on a 5wt. All swam free to bite another day. It seems the best time is in the afternoon when there are areas of shade on the lake.

how big are the trout in rattlesnake this year? I saw a guy at the boat launch last weekend send one airborne via his rod into the boat... and into the cooler. ( guess he didn't know the lake is catch and release) Hope this eventually helps it become a wealth of larger fish. Thanks for your report.

I released two that were in the 12-14'' neighborhood. Pretty sluggish though, perhaps they would have been a little more of a rod-bending battle on a 3wt. Great fun nevertheless.

There are some big triploids in the lake. 500 were planted in the spring, if people are following the rule,(which apparently some arn't) most of those fish should still be there. I caught a 19 incher this year.
