The boy and I decided to get up early and try Kapowsin. We were not disappointed. First fish came on a Rapala xrap perch. Was a nice size rock bass. Then we crossed over to the south end of the island. My son was working a square lipped fire-tiger crank bait and I had a black and chartreuse spinner bait. He got the first large mouth (in picture) and then it was my turn. After moving a bit I got back to back hookups on the spinner bait. First cast another rock bass and next cast a large mouth. I think we caught 6 fish total, had a great time, met some other friendly fisherman too.

I went to Tapps....Sure wish I could have seen a lake that flat. I was raised a mile from Kapowsin. Infact I was a logger out of the Kapowsin St. Regis camp for 18 years. Anyway, have bass fished Kapowsin alot.....This time of the year the Erickson Resort end of the lake on that big flat can be a killer for top water and weightess plastics. A little imfo just incase you go back.....

Thanks for the tip Ricky. I'll definitely go back to this lake as soon as I can. I drove by Tapps the other day. I have no desire to put my canoe in there... LOL
