After getting skunked on the river in the morning I grabbed my 8' livingston and my nephew and I headed out to Chain lake in monroe (My favorite lake). My 12 year old nephew had never caught a fish before today. We put in and started trolling Macks orange wedding ring spinners with brass blades and within a minute, fish on! My nephew had caught his first fish- a little dinky smallmouth bass. He then preceded to catch another 7 small to medium bass and one medium bluegill sunfish for a total of 9 fish on his first real day of fishing. I landed a couple smallmouths over 10". We were using very light gear to make the fight more fun. Lots of action. We just trolled along the edge of the lillies just fast enough to get the blades spinning and it works good for me everytime. We kept the four largest, I filleted them and my wife breaded and fryed them up for us. Great day.
