Decided to head out Spencer and give it a try. We launched at 0830 and headed toward the south end of the lake. I started trolling my silver rapala x-rap and caught a perch. I caught about 5 more perch using my drop shot with 4" worm. My gf wasn't having much luck because she kept getting stuck in the stumps. She casted her black 4" yamamoto grub in front of a dock and thought she got stuck again but something was fighting back. I grabbed the net and missed the fish so my gf swung the fish in the boat. It was about a 3.5lb LMB. She caught a couple more nice fish. The water skiers and jet skiers were were getting way to close to us so we left. It was still a good day on the lake.

Nice report Eddie! This is the first time I have ever heard of perch in Spencer. Have you ever caught a bluegill or sunfish in that lake?

Spencer has some real pigs. The biggest I've caught was 6-4, but in its clear water I've seen monster bass in the 9 to 10 lb class. Alittle tip....Several years ago while on a friends dock on Spencer I saw a freshly dead crawdad laying on the bottom. I scooped it up. It was a green color with black specks. I began rummaging through my plastics and found an exact match. That was how I first got turned onto the color, Watermellonseed. It turned out to not only be a killer color on Spencer, but is great on about any lake for largemouth or smallmouth. Congrats to your girlfriend!

No Bob I haven't caught any bluegill or sunfish. There are quite a bit of perch in this lake..Ricky thanks for the tip on the crawdad. I wasn't sure if there were any crawdads in Spencer. Todd Saturday was a perfect day and the skiers started skiing about 0930. Hopefully with the weather changing I can go back and fish in peace.
