It was an almost perfect day on the lake today. The wind was totally calm, the temp was in the lower 70's and the bass wanted to play. I got off to a fairly late start and didn't launch until about 9:00 AM.
Started fishing the east shoreline from the ramp. The water was flat as a mirror so I started casting a size 11 Rapala. Caught a small bass on 2nd cast, missed a strike on 3rd cast and caught a bass on the 4th cast. That kinda set the tone for the day. Soon lost track on how many bass I caught but by the time I quit it must have been at least 20-25. Most were hooked on the Rapala but the best fish of the day which was only about 2 pounds was hooked on a black jig. Most of the fish were small but a few were between a pound and 2 pounds. All were handled gently and released. There were hundreds of dragon flies on the lake. Bass and trout were flying out of the water after them. I think it was the dragon fly mating season as most of them were joined together - by twos. Only one other boat on the lake and I think they was an anchored trout fishermen. One trout fisherman was fishing from the access. Shot a couple photos of the fish while they were still in the water - before being landed. Fish in first photo was a little over a pound and the other one must have been only about 5 inches - the lure was 4 3/8 inches.
