Took the boy fishing at my parents on Angle Lake. I have grown up fishing this lake but didnt know there were kokanee in it till I got involved with this website... thanks for letting the cat out of the bag :) My son ended up catching 3 kokanee and one perch all while trolling with a pink Gamakatsu flat blade spinner each hook with a small piece of worm and fire corn. I experimented with a couple of other lures with only one hook up on a wedding ring. There is something about the Gamakatsu flat blade the just works really well. On his first fish we had a little extra excitement. I noticed the bite and told him he had a fish on.(ten yr old boys dont just sit there looking at the fishing pole) Frantically he grabbed the pole and then his eyes got real big.. the handle was falling of the reel! He didn't hesitate to just hand line it in... and man do these fish put a stink when they get close to the boat. Glad I brought a net. So dad was the net guy and my son will never forget this outing im sure. Catching all the fish really kept him excited and engaged which is good cause when we got there he said "dad cant I just stay on the dock and fish = (rock bass)"..ugh!

Right on! Way to improvise LOL. Yep having the water moving around you and surrounded by it can make it more interesting to a younger one if they are catching :-) Nice job doing both successfully.
