well, me and crustyliner decided to beat the crowds fishing for steelhead by going to rock and see what the trout were doing. after working on his boat putting on a new kicker motor controll bar, the old one is at the bottom of lake rosevelt, we were off. got to the lake at around 9ish an lo and behold, there was only 1 other boat trailer in the parking lot, and 2 guys bank fishing. so we stat out trolling stickbaits, since the browns like them, and got nothing. went to the north end and tried flies on lead core, flies on a downrigger, stickbaits on a long line, nothing. finally 1 fish on a pink glitter apex. so i put on an orange one on lead core, and the fish started biting. so after missing some strikes, losong some fish and catching some, the wind started picking up. we were suprised as the weather report said 7mph wind gusts, not the 20mph sustained winds we were getting, stupid weatherman. so we decide to put on our life jackets and head back to the dock at around 1, pull out into the main part of the lake, and promptly start getting water over the bow. well, this won't do, so we head back and anchor up to let the wind die down. 3 hours later... he head out and motor back to the launch... eventless. so all in all, a good day fishing, with a nice nap waiting for the wind to die down. oh, and 6 fish kept by us. average size for rock.

Nice report, the wind is always a problem there. I headed to rock (25th) and switched from my stick baits to wedding rings tipped with worm on lead core 4 to 5 colors and had a limit of browns in 3 hours. Nice day with lots of sun and no wind if you can believe that.

Hey, wait a minute. I like wind on Rock. LOL

OK, not the 20 MPH type. My fishing buddies want me to put shock absorbers on the boat seats to protect their back and kidneys when I skip across the top of the waves coming back in that 20+ MPH winds on Rock.

Good Report. Is the Ramp as hard to launch as it was a couple of weeks ago - back into the water till all four wheels of the truck are in the lake and the trailer just starts to fall off the cliff?

Fun Lake!

yup, it's still pretty low. when launching, i was thinking that having my chest waders would have been nice, to have to help the boat off of the trailer. oh, and the water temp was 55.

Trolled on rock today from 1:30 to 4 and CRd about 7. 3 were decent sized 1 brown, 2 rainbows. The rainbows were on 2-4 colors of leadcore with a clouser minnow fly. Interestingly hooked two on the clouser minnow when I was just dragging the fly on the surface with about 20-40 feet of line out. The bite wasn't hot, but was steady. Other fish were caught on the surface with a small crankbait. Was overcast with a steady breeze from the south.
