A buddy and I fished Upper Goose Lake on the afternoon of November 4 after getting blown off of Potholes. It took us about two hours to catch a limit of rainbows. A lot of fish came unbuttoned before we could get them to the boat. The fish we caught ran in three size groups: 7”, 10”, and 14”. I was disappointed with the condition of the fish. They were slim fish that cut tannish. I guess that I’ve been spoiled by the thick bodied/red meat rainbows that I’ve been catching at Potholes.
We trolled dodgers and wedding rings tipped with ½ of a worm along the edges of the lake at 2mph. It became obvious that trolling faster than 1.5mph resulted in catching the larger sized fish.
