After some plans fell through, and having just a couple short hours of daylight left, I decided to try my luck at Green Lake again. I met up with Ryan again at the spot that we fished yesterday. Quadfather, this reports for you. I didn't feel like spamming the Green Lake reports with every fish catching outing but I just may now haha :)

I transferred over my Daiwa Tierra spinning reel to my 6' 6" M Abu Garcia Veritas and it is nothing short of a match made in heaven! It is extremely light and perfectly balanced. Casting a 3/8 oz inline spinner was an absolute joy as it casts ultra smooth and super far.

We began working the same general area making cast after cast. After about 45 minutes or so of nothing, we then packed up and moved to the other side of the lake. We started off trying the spot where I caught my first Brown with no luck and then moved along the bank some more.

We get to this spot and start casting way, daylight is disappearing fast and I'm beginning to fear that I'm going to get skunked. Just as it's about to get near dark, I get another savage strike only about 10 feet off from shore and I set the hook! Fish On! It's a much nicer brown that the 2 that I've previously caught. I got ultra excited and didn't even give the fish a chance to fight. I horsed him in and lifted him up out of the water and onto shore! I knew immediately that this was my new personal best Brown Trout! I actually weighed this fish and she came in at 2 lbs 9 oz. This was an absolutely gorgeous fish! She was a beautiful golden brown with nice spots!

She was really fat and I was wondering if the fish were spawning because she looked pregant. I looked at the vent on the fish and it was portruding out. I gave it a very gentle squeeze and immediately about 10 or so bright orange eggs came shooting out. I had actually planned on keeping this fish for my roommate so she could cook it up. But I decided to let her go so she could spawn and reproduce a future generation of browns for the lake.

I am even more confident now that my guesstimates on the weight of the 2 big browns that I lost are pretty darn close. This fish came in just a hair above 2.5 lbs. The two that I lost were much bigger than this one. And don't worry, I didn't harm the fish. My fingers were underneath her gill plate. Neither my fingers nor the scale touched the actual gills. I made sure of that. After putting her in the water, she swam away strong without any hesitation.

You are just killing those browns!!!! What type of spinner (size/brand, etc) are you tossing? I need some of those.

Just think how hard that fish would have fought if you had caught it on one of those miniature fishing rods you used to post about. That's one beautiful fish.

Those browns are pretty special. Not the common colors of a Rainbow trout in a picture. Your drawing a lot of attention. And I am enjoying the adventure's.
