Been a while since I had a chance to chase some cutts. The Lake has turned completely and surface temps are now in the upper 40’s. Targeting the resident fish, I decided to hit the open water to see if I couldn’t locate a few bait balls and work them over a bit. I managed to find plenty of bait, however it was down fairly deep, which may be due to the calm weather and the steady high pressure we have been experiencing for the past few days. I tried mini cutplugs, Apex lures and hoochies with no luck in the open water. Changed tactics for my last 30 minutes and drug bottom with a green Apex behind a 4” fish flash off a point on the north end of Mercer. This produced my only cutt of the day, a feisty 16” fish that hit in 35’ of water. I also picked up a nice sized perch, 65’ down, with the same setup. Gotta thank Dan for posting his video on fishing Lake Sammamish, I’m sure it is one of the reasons that the number of boats targeting cutts on Lake Washington today were minimal.

I was out fishing the bass tourney and several nice trout were caught. Rainbows and Cutts. Biggest going 5#.

Nice picture! Thanks for posting!
My belive is that L. Washington holds more bait that Sammamish. I was always able to locate tons of bait balls like the ones in the picture above, on the big lake, and trolled the area back and forth with no succes. It may be that the cutts have plenty of food and dont get intrested in lures sometimes. Trolling herring helps! While Sammamish gives you an easy limit on cutts, L. Washington can be challenging. But that is were the skilled fisherman can show off!
I should'n probably posted that video about Sammamish fishing. I get a lot of complains about making that lake known! Thanks again for your report! I will fish Washington as soon as I get back from Hawaii! Tight Lines!

Intersting thought about more bait in lake WA., Dan. I find the lake Sam. cutts, although easier to put in the boat, I find them much skinnier than the lake WA. fish. There is a huge hatch going on now on Sam. in the am. fish just slurping the bugs on the surface. As we know the lake WA. fish seem to dine on baitfish, sticklebacks, etc.
Lake Sam. or WA. are far from any secret on the availability of cutts. I say, no worries on putting up your video. Only the hardcore are going to go out there in the cold in the boat, etc.
Didn't mean to hijack your comment section G. Put some more time in on WA. when you can...... you've been silent on report for awhile, (-: !
