Fished Rock again yesterday with friend that's been out of the fishing game a while. It was sunny and clear at home and as we passed through St. John you could see the fog bank to the west. I didn't think it would be close enough to matter, but it was. Upon arrival steam was rising from the lake and the fog was so thick at times you couldn't see 40 yds, so we decided to start at the south end instead of motoring up north. Trolled rapalas and big hand tied flies in deceiver paterns with a flasher and we were catching browns, but nothing to write home about for size. The bigggest was pushing 2# on a good day. About half way up the lake the soup broke up enough that it was safe to go faster than 5 mph without a foghorn. To the north end we went.

At the north end we targeted rainbows with apexes in orange and pink, and spinner flies in green. The action was not as fast as last weekend, but we were catching a little larger avg size. biggest bow was 2# 6oz with most kept about 2#. We also managed to catch the smallest trout I think I've ever caught at rock about 5 inches. Winds were calm and the fog never really left. The weather people said 37 and sunny but we were lucky to hit 24.

Water temp 42, speed varied depending on lures offered from 1 to 1.75 mph and depth was 10 to 24 ft.

They normally stock Rock with finger lings in Nov. They should be about 5 inches now.
