Happy New Year! Man, the weather was fantastic, a five star winter day for sure. I decided to give the south end of the Lake a shot today and began by fishing the south end of Mercer. Started out motor mooching a Brad’s Mini Cut Plug and eventually switched to a mini Apex. The bait was absolutely everywhere, however it seemed the fish had already gotten their fill for the day. One take down on the Brad’s was all that I could muster. I ran over to Taylor Creek and put out a mini hoochie which yielded my first fish of the new year, a 16” smallie in about 60’ of water. Worked the area over a bit more without any further action so I ran up to Pleasure Point and gave it a go. Picked up another 16” smallie 35’ down on the mini hoochie and one 18” cutt 55’ down on the Brad’s. Not sure what it is about the mini hoochie, but it has been the lure of choice for the small mouth lately. Water conditions are still excellent, there wasn’t enough rain early in the week to cause the Cedar to kick out heavy sediment. Looking at the Lake Washington weather buoy data, it would seem that, for me, the “bite” picked up when the pressure started to drop. Surface temps are still in the mid to upper 40’s and the wind was pretty much non existent today. Saw several other boats in the area, including fellow Washingtonlakes.com member MotoBoat.

The top photo of the Smallmouth, doesn't have such a small mouth! We ran through a fair amount of floating debris in the 50ft depth range between the Cedar River and directly in front of Kenmore air. In fact, at one point while searching a path through the floating salad and branches. A float plain played chicken with us. I don't recall reading about this situation or whom has the right of way when taking the boater's safety course. But we were trolling and they were cruising at 10 + mph and closing fast. Luckily the plot put the martini down, in time to notice we were there and changed course with a left rudder.

I recall your saying Lake Wa was a in your plans to fish on Monday. But the only N. River we saw was not fitted with a E-tec outboard. Was an I/O with Yammy kicker and solo fisher. So dismissed that encounter as not The G-man.

It Was a nice day. A few cold chills and gloved hands a must. Rain and wind came after putting Quad's boat away, doing an autopsy on the stomach contents of the fish and completing the round trip by arriving at home.

FYI, if the plane is in the water it must abide by the same rules as any other boat. My boat was the Raider Pro Fisherman with white Etech and white kicker. The salad is only going to get worse as the weeds finally break off the bottom and get distributed around the lake by the wind and currents. Good thing though is that the weed beds were much less dense this past season, so hopefully we won't have too much junk to deal with in the upcoming months. Good to here you kept the skunk off the boat.

Went online to search what the Raider Pro Fisherman looked like. Looked very similar to the Boat I thought to be a N. River. White in color, but I/O with looked to be a T-8 kicker. What color and type of boat did you see me in?. Not that I don't recall the boat I was in....LOL!!!!!!!. Just comparing, cause I do not recall seeing anything resembling your described boat, other than the N. River I/O. Which could have been a Raider Pro Fisherman for that matter. But definitely did not have E-tec's bolted on it.

Didn't need to fizz the fish caught 35' down. The one that came up from 55' was a different story though and needed help to get back down from whence she came.
