After reading the reports on this site over the past couple months I wanted to give this lake a try. I spent some time in the area back in my 20's. Career moves have kept me busy across the country. My current state of residence is Florida. I Won't bore anyone with what that entails. I came up for the holidays to visit family and purchased a 3 day non resident permit. Not cheap either I should mention! I tried the north end Wednesday morning. Rained the whole time! Had one follower (rainbow) in a couple hours over a hard bottom point with a gradual transition. Went to the south end Thursday afternoon using the same plug with no result. Did meet Ryan which was very helpfull. I am anylitical by nature and watch others when on a new piece of water. Sorry for asking too many questions. Thanks for the information. Today I searched for a simular bait. No luck but found something comperable. I would have never figured brown's would attack this type of bait? This afternoon I spent my limited time on the north end of the lake casting from shore. The wind was coming from the south with a light rain and was quite chilly. After about 10 minutes I noticed a really nice brown (guessing 20") following, but no cigar. I kept at it for a little while. There are some distractions jogging around the lake in the afternoon and I totally missed Mr. Big sneaking up on my lure as it got close to shore. This big dude rushes up and grabs it right as I'm lifting it out of the water. I fish allot and will estimate this particular specimen over 4 pounds, maybe 5. It was quite thick and was at least 24" long. Really big white mouth. It shook twice and ADIOS MUCHACHO! My apologies to the woman passing behind me as the lure sprung backwards when the hooks pulled free...My Bad...She's ok! Well that's it for my over priced 3 day permit. I got to see what you guys are talking about and did hook Mr. Big if only for a few shakes. Tight Lines!

It's all good man (this is Ryan). Glad you got a taste of some fish today. I just watched a few chase and slowly swim away.

man i'm glad you got to hook up with a fish. i know that feeling all too well as i have hooked several in the 4 - 5+ lb class and lost them right at shore. the bigger ones are smart and will tend to barrel hole while violently head shaking. and unless they have all 3 trebles buried in their mouth they are more than likely to get off.

Nice report! Your report through me for a minute...... I thought that you were saying that, "Some big dude" came up and grabbed your lure. Like in big dude jogging around the lake! Pretty cool to go across the country on business, and drop into your old neighborhood lake, and actually have face time with a fish as nice as that one.
