Since duck season is finally over I decided to try a little early season trolling for cutts at fish lake. I've never fished it this early so I figured it would be a learning experience. I was right!
I arrived at noon to sunny skies, calm waters, and a surface temp between 41 and 42. There were a few fish rising, but not as many as later in the year. I started out trolling a green wedding ring. One pass around the lake, so I switched to pop gear with a pink wedding ring behind. I got 2 small bites on that, but no hard takers. I left at 1400.
I marked a lot of fish in the bottom third of the water column. I know they're out there, I just need to figure out how to catch them this early.
