Oh by the way, I have caught hundreds of perch on that side of the lake this last summer and have noticed tape worms in about 10% of them. It is no big deal if you cook the fillets well and or freeze them for a day or two to kill the parasites and their eggs. I have not seen this issue in any of the crappie, bass, or blue gill I have kept.

2/14/2012 12:02:00 AM@Perchboy: Honestly I couldn't tell you if it was skills or lucky of the draw. It was my first time there and I must of hit it right on time. I used a Swedish pimple (sliver with green back) to attract, then a (perch color)with jigging spoon (glow in the dark) baited with maggots. I only caught those 3 big ones but the other crappies were your average sizes (4-7"). I worked hard for those fish and did lots of hole hopping. I haven't clean the fishes yet but will keep a look out for the worms. Thanks for the heads up. GL fishing and be safe;)
