Took the 14 year old brother in law fishing @ Bear lake Saturday afternoon. It was fun just getting out. This was my first time here so I did a lot of homework before I fished it. We started to perch fish @ the north end of the lake and caught a couple of nice size keepers! I heard that there was really nice size rainbows and decided to try. As soon I put the line in. My bobber dropped almost a foot under! I was still adjusting my line and didn't even get to set the hook on time. I was thinking hmm... was that really a fish or what? I rigged it back up and drop the line again. Waited 5 min and again something slammed it pretty hard again. I reeled it up and as soon as got the fish up to the hole, somehow it just slipped off! I saw that it was a decent size rainbow. I then hollered @ my brother in law and told him that there's trout biting over here. He told me to stop lying and went back to perch fishing! At this point I was determine to "Ice" one. I fished for other 20 min with no more bites so I moved to a different hole and sure enough it was worth it. I just dropped my line and waited not even 5 min. "FISH ON," I iced a nice size 15in rainbow! After that i fished for other 30min with no more bites. By this time it was getting dark so we both decided to call it quit and come try other day. Ice was still rock hard 7in. GL FISHING AND BE SAFE;)
