Well, the weather was nice and I had some free time so I loaded the boat and went over to the lake for a few hours. Sounded like a good idea with the lake getting a heavy plant of fish recently. I very rarely fish the lakes on the westside, but I had high hopes of catching and releasing some of 1,000 brood stockers (2-8 pounders) the Snohomish Sportsmans Club planted on top of the 2,000 half pounders the state planted. The fishing wasn't so hot today. I was a bit dissapointed as well as the other boats. However, I did manage to release 4 and lost a few, they were the smaller 12-13 ichers. I fished a gold plated Fiord Jr spoon to catch the fish and was the only thing I had action on. I only seen one other small fish caught from another boat and did not see how the people on the docks did, but didn't see any comotion, so I think it was slow for them too. The lake was pretty packed for a weekday, 10-12 boats and probably 30 people on the docks.
The only action I had and seen came from the area in between the docks and the boat launch close to shore, the rest of the lake was void of action.
If you head to Blackmans, remember it's got a three fish limit now.

i was on the docks yesterday, and the it was SLOW, i got 2 bites after 4 hours, i saw a couple schools of the recent stockers though, they were sitting on the bottom in about 6ft of water, about 20 ft from shore, i casted a size 4 green/yellow/red holographic panther martin at them got 2 fish to tap it halfheartedly, then the fish moved slowly away, and had no other bites for the rest of the day :/ i think the fish need a little time to acclimate, and also warmer water would help too. most of the people on the docks didnt catch anything either, i saw 1 guy catch one flyfishing out of 30 people in 4 hours of fishing there.....usually this lake is pretty good this time of year, although it usually gets a heavier stock. thanks for the report.

I am heading there tomorrow, thanks for you info. on spoons used. When you said it is now a 3 fish limit lake... was there a info. release from the WDFW in mid season or something? Or is there a new sign posted by the WDFW at the launch? Because we are still fishing under 2011 rules until April 1st of 2012, just curious.

Quad, it's on page 62 of the rule book... Trout no min. size, Daily limit 3 The rule was put into effect due to it being a high pressure lake and would consistantly get fished out too quickly. There is alot of real nice fish still swimming around. They sure were not in the bitting mood yesterday. Lookin' forward to hearing how you do tommorow. Good luck.
