With the recent planting, I decided to see if I could catch a few of them from a dock. Walked to the lake while it got light. Got started about 06:45 at the NE 64th T-dock on the east side. After two hours of no signs of life there, I packed up and walked north to Starbucks for some breakfast and to warm up.
After that break, headed out to the nearby big t-dock by the paddle boat rental place. I resumed my still fishing with power eggs, but I quickly changed to spincasting lures, after seeing others doing very well that way.
Then, the action got pretty good. I was getting some bites right away, and landed a couple of fish pretty quickly. Others around me were doing even better. Folks were catching them on powereggs and spincasting spinners and spoons.
But, the bite died down a lot, when the sun came out. And eventually several guys left. I switched to still fishing powereggs again and got nothing that way.
After quite a while, I noticed the sun had gone away, and decided to switch back to spinning. By then, another wave of new anglers had arrived, with most still fishing. So was hoping I could but on show with the spinning, and that is what I did. :)
First seven casts, I had strikes on each one, and I landed all but the first strike. The rest of the crowd noticed pretty quickly, and switched to spinning, and casting near me. But they could not keep up with me and my little blue fox spinner. After catching about 10 fish that way, I decided I had had my fill. I walked my 5 fish limit home at about 1pm.
It was quite cold at first. Got a little windy at times. But the sun eventually provided welcome warmth. The paddle boats were getting rented, and the glory of Green Lake emerged.
