Man...I love the springtime! I hooked up with my good buddy Travis Cullinan for some top notch bass fishing today. We hit a grassy slough off of Frenchmens Hills wasteway near the I road ponds this afternoon. My Lunar fishing time predicted a good bite if the weather held and we weren't dissapointed. I caught a decent 2 pound bass on a new "Snakehead" worm prototype. But the hot "Bug" was a 3" "Stone Dragun" Jig, the slightly larger brother to my "Rock Dragun" grub. I've been making these Stone Dragun jigs specificclay to mimic salmon/stone fly larvae for salmon and steelhead. But As soon as I rigged up a smoke/pepper Stone Dragun on a 1/16th oz.jighead and dipped the tail in chartruse (See pics below)it was fish on! Solid 1 1/2 lb to 3 pound bass hit it like crazy. Many fish took the jig as soon as the lure hit the water. I lost count of the number of largemouth bass we caught(near 40 or so) but it was a hella good day till the cold frontal system hit. A number of smaller bass also found it appealing as well. I tried a smoke blue Dragun Nymph but the smoke colored bug was definately the hot bait. Now I hope to catch some nice crappie/bass tomarrow while fishing with my buddy Fishin' Christian. Good luck guys. Jiggy p.s. (field testers wanted...Lol)
