Headed down to the lake for the second time this year to do a little Largemouth recon work and meter the west side for any key holding areas. Over the years I have gotten the south end and east side pretty dialed in but have never taken the opportunity to dissect the west side. I found two areas that will pay off this season. I fished jigs, buzz bait and a culprit worm at various depths and up under docks for nothing. The water temp was 48 and the water clarity was terrible from the past wind storms. Visibility was less than a foot and water color was dirt brown. I continued to meter differing depths when I came across an area that I am dubing the "Bermuda Triangle of Kitsap". Everytime I went over it the depths went crazy and one time my screen actually went black. The bottom depth would be 18' then all of a sudden it would say 59......32....54....28....and read big fish all over the place. I threw on a Lippripperz jig in white knowing that they were trout and hammered them for the next 40min. They all ranged between 12-18". All were very healthy and gave up amazing fights. One took to the air twice and could have easily jumped in the boat with how much air he was getting. I didn't have a cooler or want to keep them, so they all were released. I will definitely put this down in the books and I plan on taking the boy out to nail some quality fish soon. I know that there is a spring that run into the lake in that area and that is what I am thinking the depthfinder was picking up. The voids under the lake bottom. IDK for sure.
