Took advantage of the good weather and went fishing on Lake Washington with Logan77. Earlier in the afternoon, we stopped at Log Boom Park but couldn't manage to catch anything. We figured we would have a better chance catching fish on the boat fishing for SM. We were on the water by about 5 PM.
We fished around for a few hours without much luck. There were a ton of perch hitting at our line, but no bass. After changing spots several times, Logan caught about a 1.5-1.75 pound SM in about 15 feet of water on a hulu grub, which is what we were both fishing. The fish was really fat, it was full of eggs.
About 20-30 minutes after Logan caught his fish, I made a cast to about the same area. Somehow, my line got tangled around one of the eyelets on my rod but I didn't notice. While I was trying to figure out why my line wouldn't reel in, Logan got hung up on a rock. Logan's dad started to pull the boat around so Logan could get the lure off, but I couldn't get my line up before the boat started moving. I finally figured out what the problem was and untangled it. My rod was bent, but I thought it was because the boat was moving, but it turns out it was a fish, my first bass of the year! It was also in about 15 feet of water. This one was at most 1.5 lbs, probably a little smaller.
It was a decent day of fishing, not great. This would normally be a 2, but I rated it a 3 since it was my first bass this year. We figure the water temps were in the low 50s, and the fish are starting to move up shallower. We'll probably have better luck next week, if this weather keeps up.
