Fished Beaver Lake this morning from 8 am to Noon. It was a gorgeous day on the lake. I fished from my usual spot on the west side of the lake at Beaver Park. Mostly sunny with occasional sprinkles. Two guys next to me caught two Triploids each using green power bait and a variety of power eggs. The biggest of their Triploids was 19 inches and weighed 3.5 lbs. While I was talking with them another guy fishing near them hooked a big fish that ran until it almost spooled his reel.

Unfortunately, we never got to see it, because it broke his line while he tried to get control of it. He was using 4lbs test. All three of these guys said they have had the same thing happen at least twice in the past couple weeks at that same spot. One of the guys said he was using 10 lbs test the last time it happened to him and the fish still broke his line. They are referring to it as the "Phantom Fish". They are convinced it is a Trout in the 8-10 lbs range. Since I fish at this spot regularly I'm hoping one of us catches it and finds out for sure!!

Everyone around me got fish today, but to my surprise I got skunked. Very unusual for me at Beaver Lake. Either way, I gave the outing 3 stars because it was a beautiful day, met some cool guys, saw some beautiful fish pulled in and witnessed a truly epic and mysterious fish battle!
