No trips this weekend so today was a play day! We fished for bass, rainbows, chinook, and of course lake trout! Started the day in the lower basin trolling for lakers on the riggers and sent out a flat line for a shot at a chinook. I no more than got all the gear out when the top line rod just laid FLAT! Thought for sure it was a chinook, but turned out to be a nice rainbow.. I couldn't believe how hard he crushed it. As soon as that fish hit the cooler BOOM we doubled up on the downriggers! Gotta love it! The rainbow came on a splatterback kingfisher spoon and the lakers today were hot for the Hi-Fly and smile blade combo. We fished for bass on rocky point along with a few other boats and got into them as well.. Coffee tubes and a 1/2 ounce jig head worked well. Jessica even picked up another nice rainbow on the tube. I cant believe the size of some of those smallies you see in that clear water.. just pigs! We saw a few schools of silvers right on the surface that looked like popcorn and i'm marking em' on the sonar all over, but talked to a few boats today that didnt have any luck. They are here, but it's just a little early yet.. soon they too will be on the hit list! We finished our day at the PUD dock cleaning fish and catching some of those little plant rainbows which provided some fast action! What a day! First sunburn of the year!
