I had fished potholes when I was younger, and I knew there was plenty of bass to be caught. I arrived friday afternoon and stayed until monday. I heard that the bass bite was pretty slow so I was more into relaxing than fishing. I fished saturday evening for about 1.5 hours with no hits. On Sunday I saw boats returning for a weigh in and the fish were pretty light I thinks about 15lbs won the tournement. I forgot my fish finder so I wasn't too exited to fish blind, especially with a tough bite still. Sunday afternoon I fished along the dam for a couple hours and did'nt get a hit. That was it for bass.
My original plan was to fish Blue lake for opener, but decided on Mar-Don resort instead. So, with hopes of the kids getting trout, I asked the guys at store and they said just fish from shore with worms. The raindows were packed right up on the shore spawning. It was like sight fishing for bass but at a trout hatchery. With the fish chasing other fish more than eating, the bite was pretty slow. The fish were good size though. My daughters only caught one a piece and I broke one off that was about 2 or 3 pounds. I used a bobber with a whole nightcrawler on a 2 foot leader of flouro carbon and the at was only only pole to get bit. The small ones were about 14 inches up to about 4 or 5 pounds. We only fishe don the shore for about an hour or so on Monday.
