Went on a mission to help a friend change his fishing luck. He had not caught a fish in WA for years, after many attempts. I was honored to change that fact today. We caught our limit in 2 hours on the water, from about 07:00 to 09:15.
We caught just a bunch of little stockers, but we had pretty non-stop action. We had three setups that all worked. First was the trusty wedding ring and half worm, behind small bladed pop gear. Next was another wedding ring-like lure, half worm, but no pop gear. Last was simply a metallic blue F-4 flatfish. We used no weights, working the surface. Saw many fish surfacing and even going airborn. Had some extra excitement when a hawk tried to snatch a fish we were reeling in. Luckily his attempt missed, but the big splash in the water was startling.
About 10 other boats out. Many other people fishing from the shore. There was no wind at first, then a small breeze picked up. Sorry, did not notice the water temp.
