Wulbar and I took advantage of the great weather yesterday and skipped work to go fishing. Wulbar and I hit Lake Ballinger. We got into the water around 10am and left around 3:30 pm.

We started by trolling around the north end of the lake, got a couple of trout but the real action was in the south side of the lake. We stayed at about 30' feet of depth and had hook up after hook up. Each pass east and west netted us both a fish. In all we brought at about 20 trout to the boat to release, and lost another 6-8 as we reeled them in.

We used wedding rings with dodgers on ultralight gear. The trout were all small and we left them there for others to enjoy but combined with the weather and the fact we were basically the only boat on the lake, it was a great day.

How big were they? I was there last month and they were around 9", I would rather go to Green Lake due to size, even though Ballinger is a 10 min bike ride away, Still great to catch, props!!

The fish were probably 9" to 12", so not very large at all. I guess I could have given it a 4 due to size of the fish but given the weather and the sheer number of catches I made it a 5. There is something really exciting about marking fish on a fish finder, holding your breath for 5 to 9 seconds waiting for the strike, and then reeling in a catch. Loads of fun.
